Aks is the brainchild of Barkha Bajaj, who boasts of two Post Graduate Degrees in Psychology, one from the Texas Woman's University in the United States and the other from the University of Pune in India. During her four year stay in the United States of America she specialized in Family Therapy, Trauma and Crisis Intervention. Barkha also taught courses like Behavior Therapy and Developmental Psychology to Psychology Majors at the Undergraduate level.

In the United States Barkha worked as a Staff Counselor with Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF). Barkha did extensive work on Domestic Issues, Marital discord, Parenting and Relational issues in families. She also actively participated in providing case management and therapy to families impacted by Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse. She provided outreach training on recognizing emotional, verbal, physical and sexual abuse and dealing with its repercussions.

Earlier in her career, Barkha extensively worked with young adults and dealt with issues of Stress Management, Self-esteem, Confidence Building and Vocational dilemmas. During her numerous visits to India, she continued to spread knowledge and awareness about psychological issues by conducting workshops on Leadership, Time Management, Transactional Analysis and Rational Emotive Therapy at Work with leading management institutes and corporate houses.
